The Academy of Public and Human Service centers on service-oriented occupations for both the private and public sectors. The ever-growing needs in the service industry continues to contribute to the steady growth of opportunities and the value of a career within. As the center of East Texas healthcare and ongoing community growth- including the upcoming University of Texas at Tyler School of Medicine and citizen approved investment into the new Smith County Courthouse- showcases the value of interpersonal skills and relatable education coursework within this pathway.
The four featured programs of study in the Academy of Public and Human Service are Cosmetology, Health Science, and Teaching, Training & Coaching.

The Cosmetology and Personal Care Services regional program of study introduces CTE learners to knowledge and skills related to providing beauty and personal care services. CTE concentrators may learn about or practice managing personal care facilities and coordinating or supervising personal service workers.

The Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services program of study focuses on occupational and educational opportunities associated with diagnosing and treating acute, episodic, or chronic illness independently or as part of a healthcare team. This career cluster includes occupations ranging from medical assistant, registered nurse, and physical therapist to forensic science technician and athletic trainer.

The Law Enforcement program of study focuses on occupational and educational opportunities associated with the development and enforcement of laws by various branches of law enforcement. This program of study includes the history, organization, and functions of local, state, and federal law enforcement. Students will understand the role of constitutional law at local, state, and federal levels; the U.S. legal system; criminal law; and law enforcement terminology and the classification and elements of crime.

The Teaching and Training program of study focuses on occupational and educational opportunities associated with careers related to teaching, instructing, and creating instructional and enrichment materials. The program of study includes recognizing a variety of student groups and their corresponding needs, identifying processes for developing curriculum and coordinating educational content, and coaching groups and individuals.
